Artist Name: Hope Gibbons
Hope Gibbons is an emerging New Zealand Artist, recently relocated to the beautiful Matakana region, just north of Auckland. Her artistic influences originates from her experience with ceramics where she displayed impulsive and spontaneous designs with vibrant colours that worked so well on clay. These disciplines transferred to her latest creative exploration of new media and subject matter, resulting in a pleasing response when shown in her sold-out exhibitions. Currently Hope is passionate about mixing media and products to push them to their limits and produce some very unique textual results. The layering effect she applies through paint medium creates a sense of depth and history to the works. The work is traditionally comprised of muted earthy tones, with of late vibrant reds, to illustrate Hope's trade mark vessels and crosses which are major characteristics in her work.
