Kay Blair - Contemporary Jewellery In the mid-nineties I was introduced to the art of silver smithing at the Christchurch Arts Centre and since then it has become somewhat of a passion. The use of such absorbing techniques and chemical reactions to produce an article to be treasured and used as adornment is a constant delight. Previously I have enjoyed working with yarns and threads so it was a natural progression to use silver wire with similar processes. I like to use our own New Zealand motifs and our beautiful paua shell with pearls to create pieces that echo Pacifica.
