Artist Name: Clive Wignall
Clive Wignall Artistry In Wood In my early years I had the good fortune to live and mix with the cultures of South East Asia, where art is considered an important part of life. I totally became absorbed in this concept and am now finding the influences of those cultures coming through in my work. Some of my methods of wood turning/carving are unorthodox but I believe ‘If it works, then do it!’ In art there are no rules, only opportunity where change is constant. My choice of base material is wood because I enjoy the challenge of working with its structure and the warmth of the end result. At times I mix different mediums with it to create a married/conflict extreme of colour and texture which have a really interesting effect to both the hand and eye. The base material is salvaged from old logging sites, swamps, rivers and beaches. All the materials used are sourced and processed personally. My aim as an artist is for the person who ultimately owns my work to gain the pleasure from it that I did in it’s making. Clive
