Artist Name: Royce McGlashen
Royce McGlashen is well known as one of New Zealand's leading potters. He qualified as a Master Potter in 1971. Royce is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics in Geneva and in 1989 received a M.B.E. for his services to Pottery in New Zealand. Hand-decoration is a major feature of Royce's work. At his studio in Brightwater, near Nelson, Royce produces a wide range of hand decorated tableware that is safe in the microwave and dishwasher. Royce also produces a number od ceramic art pieces, with interesting surface treatments and decorations. A major interest of Royce's is the teapot form and over the years a great variety have been produced, many winning major awards. Producing works on paper was a natural progression and Royce also exhibits a range of paintings primarily using gouache and watercolour.
