Artist Name: Daniella Hulme
Daniella Hulme is an Auckland based, multi-media artist of Dutch descent. While primarily a mixed media painter, she has explored other media such as pottery design and wool. Her figurative and abstract work reflects and encompasses the culture and heritage of her Samoan husband and frequent travel to the Pacific Islands. Daniella gains her inspiration from Polynesian art forms (such as tapa cloth, Iavalava, Polynesian flora and fauna, and tatoo motifs) and from the Polynesian way of life. Her paintings are often described as being vibrantly colourful and are a blend of traditional Polynesian motifs and contempory design. In 1998 Daniella began painting fulltime and, over a few short years, is becoming an established New Zealand artist whose work is included in many private collections both in New Zealand and around the world.
